Where have we been? Updates, Information and More… British Columbia Seniors Advocate Town Hall in Vernon, BC, April 14
The Seniors Tin Cup has been on something of a hiatus for the past few months, first, waiting to see who the new Prime Minister would be, and now, we find ourselves in the middle of an election.
The TinCup is currently waiting for the government to settle out so that we have an actual target to address our concerns.
To say that we are living in challenging times is an understatement. We are continuing to plan and will move forward once again as soon as the dust settles, and we will continue to agitate for seniors rights and raising seniors out of poverty. This may entail “getting political” and spelling out the policies, past and present, of each of our Canadian political parties.
We encourage everyone to find out what each party has done for seniors in the past, and what they plan to do for seniors in the present, and future. Don’t be complacent – be sure to get out and vote for fair seniors pensions and rights!
Meanwhile, in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia

Dan Levitt, the Seniors Advocate of BC, will be joining us on Monday, April 14/25, 1:30-3pm at the Schubert Centre in Vernon, BC, for a Town Hall style meeting to discuss his role and most recent efforts to champion the needs of seniors in our Province. Dan will provide a presentation and a Q&A period post-presentation. I had the pleasure of hearing Dan speak at our United Way Healthy Aging conference, and he is truly an engaging storyteller.
You are invited to attend (no registration necessary) and bring anyone you know who may be interested in hearing what our Seniors’ Advocate has to say. Also, if you have a spot to post, or want to share with your network, please feel free to distribute the attached notice. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
