How long has it been since the seniors had a raise? A very long time the former minister said. Only over age 75 got 10%. The minister said the younger ones could still work. That former minister who gave it was moved to help the war defense workers soon after. There are less of them we know. Probably because we are so many they don’t want to put out the money. But like the railroad and other executives they don’t mind to spend it. They give themselves enough for several of us.

Too long. We had a 2.8% raise between last year and this. That would amount to $42 if your pensions added up top $18,000.00 We need to give the Politicians the “Tin Cup Challenge” Live on what you provide for seniors and see what it feels like.

No one is here at White Rock Rally. Why?

Unfortunately, White Rock does not have a coordinator anymore.

Hi Richard – do you know of anyone who would take on being Organizer for White Rock? Would you be able to do it? You can let us know. Thanks.

I am a senior of 69 yeas and my wife is 72. I support your movement 100% however I dont believe a rise in pension rates are the answer. A raise would be nothing more than inflatioanary. What seniors in the province, and indeed this country really need is to no longer pay taxes… PST, GST, Income… This could be stress tested based on icome. the more you make, the more tax you would pay but regardless it has to be less than now. Removing taxes to seniors could be equivalent to a 20%, or more increase in disposable income. I ran this idea by our local MP, Frank Caputo, and he replied telling me the idea had a lot of merit. Selling it to the current governments will be a whole lot of work.

I am a senior woman aged 70 and have no husband. We do need a raise in the pension. I do agree not having to pay GST and PST would help but it is not enough. Rents in Penticton are sky high. No single woman who has worked at low wage jobs all her life can afford to live on even the maximum supplent if she has to pay rent. Rent for the cheapsest apartment is at least two thirds of her income. I am fortunate enough to own my house. I have a friend who has to rent and by the time she pays rent and utilities she has barely enough to scrape by. She uses to food bank and coupons for the Farmer’s Market or she would go hungry. She has multiple heath issues and a lot medications she needs are not covered by the province. She would often have to go without medications such as pain killers if I did not help her out. As her health has gotten worse I am now regularly supporting her. We really need Tin Cup to expand into the Okanagan. There are no organizers in Kelowna or Penticton. A lot of seniors are in desperate need of help.
