Seamus O’Regan has stepped down from this post, and Steven MacKinnon has been newly appointed as the Minister for Labour and Seniors. We do not know very much about him, as yet, however the Prime Minister’s website has posted his biography and we have made it available here. We will keep you posted when more information becomes available.

The Honourable Steven MacKinnon
Minister of Labour and Seniors
Location: Gatineau, Quebec
The Honourable Steven MacKinnon was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Gatineau in 2015, and was re-elected in 2019 and 2021. He has previously served as Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, Chief Government Whip, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement. He has also been a member of various committees, parliamentary associations, and interparliamentary groups.
Before his election, Mr. MacKinnon served as an advisor to Premier of New Brunswick Frank McKenna from 1988 to 1995 and as National Director for the Liberal Party of Canada and an advisor to Prime Minister Paul Martin from 2003 to 2006. Over the course of his career, he has been involved in major public policy initiatives, including constitutional matters, trade agreements, labour negotiations, and emergency management, as well as major health, education, and democratic reforms.
In addition to his career in politics, Mr. MacKinnon has worked in business and public affairs. From 2007 to 2015, he was Senior Vice-President and National Practice Leader at a global public affairs consultancy firm, where he led teams and major projects in mergers and acquisitions and financial communications.
Mr. MacKinnon holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Université de Moncton and a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University. He lives in Gatineau, Quebec, with his wife, Janelle, and they have three children.
